Nav/Com 1
This unit performs two functions. The left side is a communications transceiver. It is called Com-1. It can be tuned to any aviation communications frequency and, when selected by the audio panel, can be used to communicate with air traffic control, other airplanes, or ground stations (for fuel, parking, etc.). This unit allows a stand-by frequency to be selected as well as the frequency in use and one button can switch between the stand-by and active frequencies. this makes it easier for the pilt to set up the next frequency in advance and then activate it with a single button. The right side of the unit is a navigation receiver. It is called Nav-1. It receives navigation signals that drive the upper VOR display and can also drive the HSI yellow course line if it is selected. This radio also controls a glideslope receiver that is used during instrument approaches. N4907J also has a second Nav/Com unit that provides complete backup and allows different stations to be used at the same time. |
